When the addict and the councilors feel the program is complete and all requirements are finished, at the addict’s own pace, then it is time for graduations and goodbyes.
Recovery doesn’t stop as you walk out the door of the drug rehab center. The old adage «Once and addict, always an addict,» is true in a sense. Anyone who has ever spoken to someone who has attended an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting will often hear them say, «one day at a time». It’s true; beating an addiction of any kind is an ongoing process. You cannot control anything in the future, but you do have control over what you do today. So let’s worry about that, and nothing else.
The treatment of alcoholism is a justifiable part of medical practice. Lots of health practitioners add it in their retinue of professional services. Some even seek out rehabilitation centers to accomplish their thing more freely, and with more human beings to wit. An alcohol treatment center will instruct you to approve responsibility for your drinking setbacks. Paradoxically, you’re also informed that you have no power over it. In this way, you are leisurely guided to appreciate that you need to maintain your distance from the bottle.
The problem with drug addiction is that it is a slow process. People do not know when they may become all dependent on drugs. They may think that they can give it up any time but the more time passes it become harder to come over it. Nowadays, people are using pain killers for drugs while in the past drugs such as cocaine, heroin, etc. were in use. Pain killers also contain the same ingredient which is present in the other drugs. It is called Opiate. Opiate is derived from the poppy plant. It affects the brain that controls the feelings of pleasure. Unlike the other drugs, the percentage of opiate in the pain killers is lesser yet it gives similar pleasure.
So, what does the society do for these people? We recommend they should go to a good alcohol and drug treatment center. This is a good advice no doubt. But the drawback is that we are not addressing the source of their drawback. For instance, if a loved one resort to this because of a failed relationship, you don’t only send such a person to a center. Have a discussion with the fellow. Let him realize that the world has not come to an end because of the failed relationship. Countless people have been given hope at this phase. Hence, they don’t go for alcohol and drugs again.
Three, from the last point, I discovered that people that attended a Christian rehab center often have more success than those that do not. Though this is subjective, but I want you or a loved one having problem with drug addiction to try out any of the Christian drug and alcohol rehab centers out there. These centers provide good care while you’re there and after you left. You’ll be introduced to the Christian recovery approach which uses the power of God to get and stay off addiction. After leaving the center, you may be counseled on engaging in worthy activities that will keep you at bay from drugs and alcohol.
When you have a loved one who is addicted to drugs or alcohol, you may tend to preach to him or use scare tactics in an effort to get them to give up the habit or go into drug rehab or attend an alcohol rehab center. This seldom works. Perhaps better is to stress the positive side of getting rid of an addiction. An addict wants down deep to change. If he or she sees the great effects that can come after leaving drugs behind, well… we can certainly hope this will motivate the person to do something effective about the addiction.
